Students create video about recovery program

Members of UNT’s Collegiate Recovery Program (CRP) produced a 2-minute video about the peer-based student program. The CRP gives students in recovery the opportunity to experience college life in a safe, nurturing and substance-free environment. Watch the video on YouTube.

Five University of North Texas journalism alumni who received Pulitzer Prizes and four who were finalists will discuss their recognized works and the expectations of Pulitzer winners and finalists on Sept. 29 (Thursday).

Artists/scholars to discuss role of art, politics as part of “Conversations” series at UNT

What: Conversations: Art, Politics and North Texas, a series of five Dallas-Fort Worth artists/scholars discussing the intersection of art and politics, at the College of Visual Arts and Design at the University of North Texas.

When: 6-7:30 p.m. Sept. 28, Oct. 27, Feb. 2 and March 2
Where: Room 101, Art Building
Cost: Free

Five prominent Dallas-Fort Worth artists/scholars will speak about the intersection of art, politics, cultural equity and history during a series of conversations at the University of North Texas.

Conversations: Art, Politics and North Texas, which will take place throughout the 2016-17 academic year, will feature the artists/scholars discussing their socially engaged work as it relates to urban contexts, civic institutions, culture and history within various cities in North Texas.

The event is sponsored by the College of Visual Arts and Design and its Department of Art Education and Art History.

Schedule of speakers:

Sept. 29 – Christopher Blay, installation artist and curator at Art Corridor Gallery at TCC Southeast Campus

Oct. 27 – Lauren Woods, multimedia artist and visiting assistant professor at Southern Methodist University

Feb. 2 – Sara-Jayne Parsons, curator of TCU Art Galleries, and Giovanni Valderas, assistant director of Kirk Hopper Fine Art and former vice chairman of the Cultural Affairs Commission for the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs

March 2 – Darryl Ratcliff, artist specializing in socially engaged art and co-founder of Ash Studios and Michelada Think Tank Center

Mean Green Coach’s Show Kicks Off Tonight at Rudy’s BBQ
The Seth Littrell radio show hits the air Tuesday night from 7-8 p.m. from Rudy’s BBQ in Denton.

The show can be heard on the Mean Green Radio Network, KHYI 95.3 FM, KNTU 88.1 FM or KGAF 1580 AM as Dave Barnett and Hank Dickenson visit with North Texas head coach Seth Littrell about the season opener against SMU. 

Rudy’s BBQ is located at 520 S. I-35E and food and drink specials will be offered beginning at 6:30 p.m. The show will air live every Tuesday night throughout the football season. Trivia questions and prizes will be part of the hour-long show along with a live microphone for fans to ask questions of Coach Littrell.
