Hank Dickenson Acting Athletic Director

June 13th, 2016 Posted in Alumni News

Hank DickensonThe University of North Texas has named Hank Dickenson as acting athletic director while a national search commences to replace Rick Villarreal, who announced in May that he would step down as athletic director on June 20.

Dickenson, who has been with North Texas for more than two decades, is the deputy athletic director and an integral part of the Mean Green Radio Network. Dickenson does color commentary on North Texas football games and also does play-by-play on Mean Green men’s basketball games. Dickenson’s current administrative role includes scheduling, personnel management and oversight of external activities such as fundraising, sponsorships, marketing and promotions, and media relations.

To assist in finding the Mean Green’s next athletic director, North Texas has retained Eastman & Beaudine, Inc., and Bob Beaudine, chief executive officer of the firm, will lead the search with the goal of having the new athletic director identified by midsummer.

During the interim period, Ernest W. Kuehne III and Michael Sicuro will act as special consultants to UNT president Neal Smatresk to assess the resources, staffing and facilities of the North Texas Athletics Department.
