Remember reading the NT Daily in the mornings before class? Now you can keep up with UNT happenings online or on your phone at ntdaily.com, facebook.com/NorthTexasDaily, or twitter.com/ntdaily.

Incoming Editor-in-Chief Nadia Hill and her staff are excited and gearing up for a new digital-focused North Texas Daily premiering this fall through its website ntdaily.com. They aim to provide the UNT community more timely stories, photos, videos and TV broadcasts and other important information any time, anywhere.

The staff also will alert its more than 7,000 Facebook and Twitter followers about each new post.

“We realize that many of our students, alumni and the Denton community read their news on a computer or their phone, and they want the information any time they log in, not just in the mornings,” Hill said. “It’s a huge challenge in organization and design, but we’re going to give it our best.”

The Daily will continue to publish a print edition on Tuesdays and Thursdays filled with in-depth news and feature stories. The student staff will continue to strive for the same success that earned the newspaper three regional and six national Pacemaker awards in the past.

If you want to help the Daily grow its staff and continue its push to bring you even more of the latest UNT news to you. You can donate here:

College of Music
snaap

UNT is participating in the 2013 Strategic National Arts Alumni Project (SNAAP) – a one-of-a-kind survey that explores the lives of arts alumni nationwide.

Alumni from UNT’s College of Arts and Sciences, College of Music, and College of Visual Arts and Design will receive an email this fall asking them to complete the SNAAP online survey. The information they provide will help UNT better prepare arts students for success, whether they stay in the arts or use what they’ve learned in other professional fields. Alumni completing the survey will also gain access to a site to see how their educational and career experiences compare with alumni from across the country, allowing them to see where other arts graduates live, where they work, what they earn and how their arts educations have influenced their lives.

Please go here to verify that our alumni office has a current email address so that you can be sure not to miss the chance to respond to the survey, helping to shape the future of arts education at UNT and across the country.

Mayborn School of Journalism

Last month, the Frank W. Mayborn Graduate Institute of Journalism held their annual Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference in Grapevine, Texas. Distinguished authors from all across the U.S. joined the Texas tribe to speak about “Unearthing the Past,” the art of writing the historical narrative. Keynote speakers were Susan Orlean, author of Rin Tin Tin: The Life and the Legend and The Orchid Thief; Rick Atkinson, Pulitzer Prize winner and author of the acclaimed Liberation Trilogy on the U.S.’s role in World War II; and Skip Hollandsworth, who specializes in long-form narratives and co-wrote the script for the hit movie Bernie, which was based on a story he wrote for Texas Monthly. Michael Merschel of The Dallas Morning News wrote about how the Mayborn broke his heart – in a good way. This was the conference’s ninth year, and much is in store for the tenth anniversary next summer.

Students from the Frank W. and Sue Mayborn School of Journalism snacked on fish and chips this summer! The select group of journalism students studied British media and public relations in London, where they made headlines in the Denton Record-Chronicle for their coverage of the royal birth. Students blogged about their experiences while in London as they visited museums, saw musicals, were interviewed by British and German media and studied British media and PR. A few students even hopped over to Paris and Amsterdam. Cheerio!
