New Student Alumni Association

November 12th, 2012 Posted in Alumni News

Beginning the this fall semester, the UNT Alumni Association, Student Affairs and Development worked together to establish a new organization on campus—the UNT Student Alumni Association (SAA). This organization was founded as the future alumni working together to ensure the future for student success. As a branch of the NT40, the SAA will work closely with the NT40 leaders to promote the pride, spirit and positive image of UNT. They will accomplish this by encouraging student philanthropy, UNT spirit and tradition, and involvement in campus activities.

By joining the SAA, students receive benefits similar to regular alumni association members like discounts and savings, as well as membership in SAA giving them added membership in the UNTAA at time of graduation.

This group meets bi-monthly and has already created events to fulfill their mission. The SAA’s first major event took place on November 1—Tuition Stop Day.

This is a symbolic day that represents the day tuition would run out if UNT was run on tuition alone. The purpose of the event was to bring awareness to the millions of dollars given each year to UNT by donors. Students were asked to write thank you notes and take a picture holding a thank you poster, which will then be sent to donors.
