Places & Spaces: Mapping Science

The University of North Texas is proud to be the first Texas host of the world traveled, 10-year exhibition Places & Spaces: Mapping Science. Funded in part by the National Science Foundation, Places & Spaces is meant to inspire a cross disciplinary discussion on how to track and communicate scientific progress on a global scale. At the UNT exhibit, you will discover power of maps to navigate and make sense of physical places and abstract topic spaces. The exhibit consists of 70 science maps, 3 globes, and an illuminated diagram display. Each year, 10 new maps are added which will result in a total of 100 maps by 2014. UNT is proud to host the world premier of the 7th iteration of maps, Science Maps as Visual Interfaces to Digital Libraries.

Laying the Foundation: UNT Art Faculty, 1890-1970

The exhibition explores the roots of the visual arts program at UNT, looking at art works from early faculty members who provided the foundation for UNT’s award-winning art programs. The exhibition is sponsored by the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, the Institute for the Advancement of the Arts and the College of Visual Arts and Design.

“The Long March”

Author, actor and former Black Flag front man Henry Rollins will be talking about his travels around the globe in a speech presented by the North Texas Fine Arts Series. The event is part of his talking tour, “The Long March.”

Tickets will be available at starting January 23.
