UNT’s Apogee Stadium Nation’s First LEED Platinum Collegiate Stadium

November 3rd, 2011 Posted in Alumni News

The United States Green Building Council has awarded the University of North Texas’ Apogee Stadium a LEED Platinum Certification, making it the first collegiate football stadium in the nation to receive the highest level of LEED certification. With features that reduce water and energy consumption, promote sustainable and recycled materials, improve indoor environmental quality, and enhance the site and its surroundings, the stadium was designed with sustainability at the forefront of the planning process. Apogee Stadium will achieve another first in December when three wind turbines that will feed the electrical grid that powers the stadium are completed.
